Diagnostic Technologies
Better Health Care Through Modern Scientific Advances
Every day, modern science is developing new technologies to allow physicians worldwide to better and more efficiently diagnose and treat patients just like you. At LiveOn Medical Centers, we are constantly reviewing and evaluating these new technologies so we may share them with our patients. And, we are putting existing technologies and standard tests together to improve your overall health.

Cardiopulmonary Exercise Test (CPET)
Performing a Cardiopulmonary Exercise Test at our LiveOn Medical Center measures how well your heart, lungs and muscles work together. If you have fatigue, chest pain or shortness of breath, the CPET can help our physicians determine whether your symptoms are due to a medical problem (such as heart or lung disease) or simply due to poor fitness.
During a CPET, our patients ride a stationary bicycle while we measure the amount of oxygen your body is using, the amount of carbon dioxide being produced, breathing patterns, and electrocardiogram (EKG) results. We then compile an assessment of your particular health and make recommendations to make you even healthier or even save your life!

Lipid Profile and Advanced Lipid Testing
The lipid profile is a group of tests that are used to determine risk of cardiovascular disease (disease of the blood vessels that affect the heart and other organs). The tests making up a lipid profile are tests that have been shown to be good indicators of whether someone is likely to have a heart attack or stroke caused by blockage of blood vessels or hardening of the arteries.
Your LiveOn Medical Center lipid profile includes Total Cholesterol, HDL (good cholesterol), LDL (bad cholesterol) and triglycerides. Our report will include additional calculated values based on the HDL/Total Cholesterol ratio or a risk score based on the lipid profile results using, age, sex and other factors.
If further testing is needed in order to direct more effective treatment, other labs may be ordered to determine cholesterol particle size. We will use the results to help develop a program of treatment and follow-up specific to the patient's needs.

Diabetes Risk Assessment
Are you at risk or do you have Diabetes? Take our Online Diabetes Risk Assessment to find out.
Symptoms of Type 1 diabetes can appear suddenly and are one of the prime reasons for checking blood sugar levels in our patients. Because symptoms of other types of diabetes and prediabetes come on more gradually or may not be evident, you should undergo diabetes screening if you fit one of the following categories:
Anyone with a body mass index (BMI) higher than 25, regardless of age, who has additional risk factors such as high blood pressure, sedentary lifestyle, history of polycystic ovary syndrome, delivered a baby more than 9 pounds, history of diabetes during pregnancy, high cholesterol levels, history of heart disease or have a close relative with diabetes.
At LiveOn Medical Center, we take diabetes seriously. We screen and test for both Type 1 and 2 diabetes. Whatever your test results and diagnosis, our entire team of professionals will help you develop a health plan, including lifestyle changes that will treat your diabetes. And if you are diabetes free, we will compile a healthy lifestyle plan so that you can avoid diabetes altogether.
